Lance knew about this film long before The Gore-Met ever did.

Speaking of...I've been trying to figure out what kind of a message I'm going to leave on Lance's "machine" (or whatever the kids are calling it these days).

That's funny. I wonder if anyone will actually do that? I hope so.

I thought he peaked with Jesus Christ: Serial Rapist - but this gets right to the point.

Oh, no...

<downloads current RM Podcast>

Oh, that Lance! I should have figured you cheeky buggers were recording me when you phoned me, but I thought you were calling because you needed a little help from your ol' buddy.

I know that Lance says mean things because it's part of his schtick, but the two of us actually go back to the early days of the magazine, when Rodrigo moved Cinemacabre, which began as screenings for Rue Morgue staff at the original office on St. Clair W., to a public event hosted by Lance at his bar, The Vatikan.

Lance was the first reader to tell me he was a fan of my work for Rue Morgue. I've never forgotten that. Thanks, Lance! They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and I agree! I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your writing!

I think a roadtrip with Lance would be more fun than the proverbial barrel of monkeys. Forget Mississauga, no doubt we'd be singing along at the top of our lungs to Goblin's greatest hits by the time we got to Milton and would be giggling like schoolgirls as we went pantless through the Wendy's drive-thru just outside Cambridge. That's the way we roll!

I'm not one to take it upon myself to speak on behalf of the old guard of RM contributors - you know, the ones who paved the path you two are now prancing on - but I think it fine to assume this mantle on this occasion to recognise the voices Bowen, Burrell, Corupe, von Lupton, and I both inspired and nurtured. While you'll always be second-run, you'll never be second-best! Cheers to the RM Podcast!

Oh, and just to settle the controversy over this Bill Zebub thing - I'm in the documentary because the director approached me to be in it. Lance is only in it because I provided the footage he is in. You're welcome, Lance!

I will issue this challenge to Lance - I met Bill Zebub for the first time at the 2009 Festival of Fear, after having interviewed him for Rue Morgue and providing him with a pull-quote for Breaking Her Will (2009). The paraphrased conversation went like this:

"Hey, Bill, Gore-met. Good to meet you!"

"I came up with this idea driving here for something I'm going to call Antfarm Dickhole..."

So Lance - who was the special effects artist Bill originally intended to use for this project? I'm confident I can get Bill to answer this after you fail on the podcast.

We shouldn't fight. I have few fonder memories than of the times you, Feedback, and I joked about in the studio. Too bad no one was rolling 'tape', because you can't put three guys with the same surname in a room and not have utter hilarity!

Oh my. I have to laugh profusely at the notion that this group of motley characters are in any sense progenitors of the sort of nonsense and shenanigans I specialize in on the radio.

Long, long, long, long, LONG before Rue Morgue ever materialized as a magazine, when most of the blokes you mentioned here were little more than snotty nosed upstarts, I was interviewing bona fide HORROR LEGENDS on my humble little radio show on CHRY in North York (that was eventually called CINEPHOBIA sometime in 1995!).

My first ever interview? Dario Argento in 1993. Me and Dario, sitting in his hotel room, trying to make sense out of each other's accents.

Also, in those very early, formative years, I interviewed the likes of Jennifer Lynch (Boxing Helena), Shinya Tsukamoto (Tokyo Fist), Peter Jackson (Heavenly Creatures), Roger Avery (Killing Zoe), Peter Weller (Screamers) and the list goes on.

So forgive me, Gore-Met, but from my point of view, many of these great 'fore-runners' as you put them, are little more than 'wet behind the ears' youngsters from my point of view. Was Lupton, Jovanka or Chris Alexander even born then?

And as for you and your loveliness, you hadn't even done the first of your many unsuccessful stints in rehab by this point. And I think Rodrigo was still president of the school's audio/visual club or something.

So puh-leeze.....!

Why do you think they call me THE GODFATHER OF HORROR TALK RADIO?

(Or more accurately, why do you think I call myself THE GODFATHER OF HORROR TALK RADIO? )

Or even more accurately, why do you think I call myself the four time RONDO HATTON AWARD WINNING GODFATHER OF HORROR TALK RADIO and the only one of the three 'Andrews' who actually has Bill Zebub's home phone number!

How many Rondo Hatton awards had you won while we were busy building the magazine?

Dude. I was doing my THANG long before there were even Rondo Hatton Awards to BE won.

But do I get bonus points for this?

I remember the first mention of the GORE-MET in Rue Morgue. It was in an article of Alt.Horror and you were mentioned as one of the veterans.

I don't remember the issue off-hand but I'd say it was in about issue no. five or some such thing.

(And like you, I discovered RUE MORGUE at the '98 Fantasia Festival and I've been reading it ever since.)

I posted the very first review of John Carpenter's Vampires (1998) to the Internet and had a paragraph dedicated to my set report on the made-for-cable Robocop: Prime Directives mini-series in a two-page Toronto Sun feature. I'm sure you'll excuse me for not taking your little local movie show more seriously. You're running with the big dogs now, man, but don't worry, there's plenty of room on my coat-tails.

I can't believe you're publicly confessing to having infiltrated The Sun.

Jeez.

Oh well, can't win em all, I guess.

For shame.

Nallix. I chose the films in question because those were the films I interviewed these guys for when they were here at the festival. Yes. Before you were born.

Jackson hadn't even MADE Lord of The Rings yet! The Gore-Met was still using a Commodore 64.

Despite my boyish good looks I am older than all of the films you mentioned.

Ok, let's just settle this. Drop your pants and get out the ruler so we can all go back to debating the lack of merit in Tim Burton films.

No, I will concede defeat to the Gore-Met.

Posting a review of VAMPIRES to the internet in 1998 certainly trumps me hanging with Dario, Tsukamoto and Jackson in their hotel rooms in 93/94.

You win, GM!
