Episode 64: THE RONDO HATTON EDITION

It’s the most epic & outrageous edition of POST APOCALYPSE to date.

I’d love to say that no animals were harmed during the making of this podcast but it wouldn’t be true!

Last Chance Lance and his intrepid squirrel Little Chris!(?) join me to read some of your letters and to giveaway three copies of the horror anthology THE THEATRE BIZARRE currently out on home video courtesy of IMAGE ENTERTAINMENT.

Endure,

:- FDBK

I simply cannot wait to receive my surprise with squirrel pee on it

I will admit to adding your name to my Rondo vote for DVD reviewer Stuart...What a suck up I am.

I just finished listening ha ha ha! I think he liked them

Those nuts cost me twenty bucks!

And don't forget. You have to guess which area of the box the squirrel peed on.

Well, thank you.

Next year, hopefully the podcast gets nominated - but also...I want THE MORTUARY to get a nomination for best horror site. I will campaign on both fronts.

I think he did. In his own, special way. (He couldn't stop fondling the fucking things.) At the very least, it gave me great pleasure seeing him open them.

Well, I'd like to say it was money well spent but that's probably not true.

Anyway, thanks for doing that. You helped create a particularly berzerk episode of the podcast and one of the most fun shows I've edited together for it yet.

I gotta say, these POST APOCALYPSE shows are my favourite (even though casual listeners will probably wonder what the hell is going on).

These shows are getting progressively more strange and that suits me just fine.

Just when I thought life couldn't get any better.

Next time I send you or Lamp something I'll be sure to piss all over it first

Yeah, and keep in mind. It was quite a puddle. Not a pillion puddle. More like a Squillion Puddle.

It says something that I can tell my wife and daughter that I am expecting an important parcel that has been peed on by a squirrel and they don’t bat an eye. The Daughter of Darkness who has listened to portions of the show thinks you are both “ridiculous”

Call me crazy, but I actually do want to see this "movie" Last Chance Lamp made. Is it actually going on YouTube?

Maybe I should call him and ask for a private screening... on second thought, no. I don't want to a) wind up in a freezer, b) get pissed on by a squirrel, or c) all of the above.

You guys really brighten my day.

Great Caesar’s ghost, man! That's Lamp? Amazing.

I can't wait to see the book length epic he co-authored - AKA: The poster he signed for me.
Author, filmmaker, embalmer, master of cosplay, friend to small animals (when he's not squeezing the squeak out of them), is there anything he's not capable of?
If there is I’m sure he doesn’t remember.

I had to turn down the volume during Lance's movie because that little girl's screams were getting the dogs too excited.

Even though I wear headphones when I edit the shows, those piercing screams still woke my girlfriend up. I think she thought I was watching some sort of fucked up, cruelty-oriented, illegal pornography.....

.....again.

Well according to the spirits it is apparently a box of novelty, horror themed condoms covered in squirrel pee

I have no idea coz I haven't heard from him.....other than an email telling me he actually listened to the whole podcast (I think that's a first) and he said he 'loved it.'

I suppose there's a first time for everything.

He could be. It's hard to say coz he said this via an email and it's hard to get a real sense. I need to look in his eyes if I want the truth. There, I will find my answer.

I've heard from a few folks recently that the POST APOCALYPSE shows are their favourite episodes of the podcast.

I think it's safe to say that you disagree with that statement. Correct?

Yeah, I don't know what it is but the Lance episodes just don't do it for me. The bickering between you guys, his bizarre attitude. Maybe he's a nice guy in real life but his podcast persona just grates on me. I had to eventually give up on the episode.

I think, from now on, you should put a warning in the description if an episode contains LCL -- I'll be sure not to download those.

No shit?! Episodes with Lamp, and especially the Post Apocalypse eps, are my favorite.

But as Feedback mentioned, casual listeners would probably not enjoy the PA as much.

My favourite part of RMR was always The Caustic Critics and more often because of the banter which had nothing to do with the film in question. Indeed sometimes you barely got to the film in question. The Post Apocalypse pods encapsulate the essential heart of what made RMR so great - articulate, passionate, charismatic, witty , intelligent (maybe not so much Lamp he’s a formaldehyde fuelled man child, crow fondler after all) and forthright horror fans discoursing on the genre. I can also thank you for encouraging me to pee on more things and send them to people. Who knew that would be so much fun?

Well....if it says POST APOCALYPSE, it's usually gonna have Lance on there. Although you might wanna listen to the next one - coz I'm gonna read some of your comments.

I've been listening for years now and Lamp is definitely your best foil yet. Don't replace him, just look what happened to Emu. He hasn’t worked since Rod Hull departed.

I would suggest Emu as a guest presenter but he wasn't much of a talker.

To my great delight a Buffy The Vampire themed talking board* arrived in the post today along with a copy of Priest (2011). Try as hard as I might I cannot find any evidence that either has been anointed by a squirrel or indeed any other mammal.
Thank you very much I’ve been wanting this for quite a while now and I actually have the beginning of a collection.

*Ouija is a proprietary name.

Look closely at the bottom right hand corner of the top lid of the box (for the Buffy board.)

If nothing looks fishy give it a whiff and see if you can detect the faint aromas of squirrel urine. I assure you - there was a sizable puddle on that box!

Nope nothing...not even a whiff and my research suggested that squirrel pee is notoriously pungent (heaven knows what Lamp smells like? Embalming fluid, with a hint of rodent urine ).

Is it odd that I find myself strangely disappointed?

My daughter did better than I and was able to detect the offending odor. She has a better nose than me obviously. She was so unimpressed when I explained what she was looking for

Yeah - it's not exactly the sort of thing a little girl dreams her Daddy will ask her to do.

I imagine one day, she'll have to 'awkwardly' explain this memory to her therapist.

Little Chris is looking on with clear envy. I'm not sure what is going through Lamp's mind, but then that's nothing new
