Naughty Teen is a curiosity, just based on the cover.

I'll eventually rent the Underworld stuff. I'm a sucker for those movies most days.

It's interesting (at least to me) for the fact that Guillermo del Toro directed it. Sadly, I find it lacks most of his trademark style and is very much a studio film.

42nd Street Forever: The Blu-ray Edition (Synapse) depending on how different this is from their previous 42nd Street Forever releases.

I am looking forward to it as well. Don May Jr. (prez of Synapse) has made it a labor of love. I think it will be great.

Yeah, I heard similar things is which probably why I haven't run out to watch it.

But I am a fan of his work so I'll have to watch it eventually.

Nightmare of Eden comes from Tom Baker's horrendous sixth season Douglas Adams presided over as script editor, and Dragonfire, while not the worst of the McCoy lot and important to die hard nerds as Ace's introductory story, is just another garish turd in the McCoy era bullshit parade. The McCoy era was heavy in commentary subtext a lot of the time, which is neat in concept, but the translation in his first two seasons was almost always horrid in execution. Who fans should stay the fuck AWAY from these turds.

Ha, of course I trust you on everything Who but this kinda makes me want to see these now out of morbid curiosity. Maybe just Dragonfire, as a rental.

Nothing else of any interest for me except The Shrine, which I saw on Netflix last week.

The only redemptive story of Baker's sixth season is the excellent Adams co-penned CITY OF DEATH. SHADA, which is completely written by Adams, is great in that high-concept meets Hitchhiker's humor sort of way but was never finished due to a strike at the BBC. The script, a recent novelization of the script, a BBC VHS with Baker in '95 or so narrating the missing scenes, and a Big Finish audio production featuring Paul McGann's eighth Doctor and Lalla Ward and John Leeson returning as Romana and K9 respectively, are four of the attempts to bring Shada to the public as a Who story proper.

Basically, after the perceived controversy over the show's darker and more violent tone during Hinchcliffe's era producers weren't so sure what direction to take the show afterward, and that plus Baker's personality eclipsing the role led to a LOT of goofiness. A lot of his stupid ideas were making it onscreen as well as the good ones, and they just seemed to have difficulty reigning him in until John Nathan-Turner stepped in for the seventh season, put down a far more iron fist, and Baker left the show.

EDIT: DRAGONFIRE has the dubious destinction of having the only Doctor Who cliffhanger ending where the Doctor is literally hanging off a cliff. Bring the Tums and stay for a trailer.
