Newbie, you are soooooo wrong.

Please refer to issues #1-4 for my point. They were like 32 pages each.

The first three (3) issues were reprinted as ONE (1) current size issue in January 2005.

So, in fact the magazine is getting larger. Much larger. At it's current rate of growth, by 2037 I'm predicting it will be the size of telephone book. Forests will disappear and species will become extinct to satisfy horror nerds Rue Morgue needs.

So you deleted the previous post because people don't agree with you, and now you want us all to "stay on topic"?

Well I won't. I don't agree with you, and in spite of any insults I may have sent your way, I made my points in the previous thread.

Somebody call the Wahhhhhmbulance.

Disagreeing is not off-topic.

Pointing out flaws in your logic is not off-topic.

The magazine is not shrinking, Rue Morgue is consistently thorough in their content.

Why do you think you're entitled to a lower price if the issue is 2 or 4 pages less than the previous one? In that case, have fun paying $20 for the Halloween double issue.

We don't need filler in the magazine just to make us feel like we're getting our money's worth.

And YOU have no place to instruct people to stay on topic. Yes, it is done as a courtesy to the OP, but when the OP is so disrespectful as to censor what he doesn't want said in a thread, you lose my courtesy.

Actually the covers on the thicker issues tend to come off easily. So I'll take a couple less pages LOL.

What I'd REALLY like to see is squareback binding on every issue! To keep the issues in better condition. Also, the main contents can be marked on the spine so it would be easier to look up an issue on the bookshelf.

Layflat or perfect binding is about 4-6 times the cost of saddlestitching and takes much longer to do.

That's probably why they're done that way.

What the hell is an "anyony"?

You can't even spell and you are deleting posts from members who have been here for literally years?

Nice way to step in it man, but you indeed HAVE stepped in it.

I'm seeing a shit stirring pattern with you, SLAYHER. Any other deletions of posts that don't fit your narrow view of acceptability will be dealt with in a swift and furious manner (I'll unleash Fermentor on you like a cyclone made of teeth and nails).

This thread is being closed until one of the RM staff has time to answer the question, which with their present schedule should be sometime after the new year.

::CLOSING::

Hey, taking a quick second to chime in.

First, what Velvet Kiss said in the original thread is in fact correct, the amount of ads sold does correlate to the size of an issue. There is actually a percentage of ads to content that we adhere to. That said, we have a set number of pages we aim for, occasionally due to ad sales we deliver an issue that is a few pages less or, in many cases, a few pages more - it would be impossible to change cover price based solely on page count, think of all the poor shops out there who would have to update their stock systems each month.

Secondly, because people are asking: a forum user can not delete others individual posts but CAN delete the entirity of a thread they started. I have left this in place so that if someone starts a thread in the wrong sub-forum or realizes they started a thread about something foolish or covered elsewhere after the fact, they can then clean up after themselves and not have to email a moderator or myself to remove it.

Hope this answers all your questions. Cheers!
